WAEC Faces Fresh Criticism After 2025 Result Portal Crashes Nationwide

Share on Social Media:

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is facing widespread backlash after its official result-checking portal reportedly crashed just hours after releasing the 2025 WASSCE results.

Across Nigeria, thousands of students and parents expressed frustration and anger over their inability to access the much-anticipated results. Social media platforms were flooded with complaints, as users reported getting error messages or being unable to log in to the result-checking portal.

“We’ve waited months for this, and now we can’t even see our results?” tweeted a frustrated student from Lagos.

WAEC has yet to issue an official statement addressing the outage. However, sources within the council say the crash may have been due to high traffic volumes, as millions of candidates attempted to check their results simultaneously.

This is not the first time the exam body has faced technical issues. In previous years, similar portal downtimes were recorded, raising questions about WAEC’s digital infrastructure and its preparedness to handle high user demand.

Education stakeholders and civil society groups are calling on WAEC to improve its digital systems and consider multiple result access channels in the future to avoid nationwide disruptions.

As of this report, the portal remains unstable, and many candidates are anxiously awaiting updates from WAEC.
