Retired Soldiers Barricade Finance Ministry Over Unpaid Entitlements in Abuja

Share on Social Media:

A group of retired military personnel staged a protest at the Federal Ministry of Finance in Abuja on Monday, demanding the immediate payment of their outstanding entitlements.

The demonstrators, under the banner of the Coalition of Military Pensioners, blocked the entrance to the ministry, holding banners that read: “Release funds for our overdue & unpaid entitlements.”

Many of the retired service members expressed frustration over months of delayed pension payments, saying that the government’s silence has left them struggling to meet basic needs despite their years of service.

According to eyewitnesses, the protesters arrived early in the morning and remained peaceful, though visibly agitated. Security personnel were seen monitoring the situation but did not disrupt the protest.

This action follows a series of similar demonstrations by pensioners across the country demanding justice and financial inclusion.

The Ministry of Finance has yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
