$220K Boost for Nigerian Innovation: Startups Win Big at NSIA Prize for Innovation 2025

Ten Nigerian startups have won a combined $220,000 in funding at the NSIA Prize for Innovation 2025, with AI and agritech companies leading the charge. Held in Abuja, the NPI 3.0 Demo Day brought together 10 standout finalists from over 5,000 applicants, celebrating tech-driven solutions to national challenges.

From over 5,000 applicants, D-Olivette Labs emerged as the overall winner for its AI-powered smart bio-digesters that convert food and agricultural waste into clean energy and organic fertilizer. The company secured $115,000 in total, combining a $100,000 NSIA grant with a $15,000 Cascador Impact Prize.

In second place, Promise Point, a woman-led automated cassava processing startup working with 2,000+ farmers, received $85,000. GeroCare, a digital health platform for elderly care, earned $55,000 in total prizes.

The event was attended by Finance Minister Wale Edun and featured partnerships with the Presidential Initiative for Unlocking the Healthcare Value Chain (PIVAC) and Cascador, which introduced special healthcare and impact categories.

Beyond the monetary prizes, all finalists will participate in a five-week training at Draper University, Silicon Valley, USA.

NSIA CEO Aminu Umar-Sadiq emphasized the authority’s long-term commitment to innovation, economic diversification, and youth entrepreneurship.

“The NPI exemplifies our mission to nurture local solutions with global potential,” he said.
