The Ekiti State House of Assembly has praised Agbeyewa Farms for its new cassava farming initiative, describing it as a project that will boost food production, create jobs, and strengthen the state’s economy. The lawmakers pledged their full support for agriculture and assured that policies will be designed to encourage private sector participation in farming.

During a special session, members of the Assembly commended Agbeyewa Farms for investing heavily in cassava production at a time when Nigeria is working hard to improve food security. The legislators noted that cassava is one of Nigeria’s most important crops, as it is widely consumed and also used for making flour, starch, ethanol, and animal feed.

They explained that the initiative by Agbeyewa Farms will not only provide raw materials for industries but also open up new opportunities for local farmers and young people in the state. According to the lawmakers, such private investments are what Ekiti and other states in Nigeria need to reduce dependence on imported food and promote self-sufficiency.

The Assembly further pledged to create laws and policies that will make it easier for agribusinesses to thrive. This includes ensuring that farmers have access to land, credit facilities, and modern farming techniques. Members of the House also called on the state government to partner with Agbeyewa Farms and other investors in order to expand agricultural projects across Ekiti.

In addition, the lawmakers stressed that agriculture has the potential to employ thousands of young people and reduce unemployment in the state. They pointed out that with the right support, cassava farming can become a major source of income for families and a driver of industrial growth.

Agbeyewa Farms’ cassava initiative is expected to cover large hectares of farmland, with plans to set up processing plants that will add value to raw cassava. This means farmers will not only produce cassava roots but also benefit from factories that turn cassava into flour, starch, and other useful products.

The Speaker of the Ekiti House of Assembly described the project as a bold step that aligns with the state’s vision of becoming a hub for agriculture and agribusiness. He assured Agbeyewa Farms that the legislature will continue to support policies that encourage investment in agriculture.

With food prices rising across Nigeria, stakeholders believe that projects like this will go a long way in reducing hunger and stabilizing the economy. Many residents of Ekiti also welcomed the news, saying it will bring development to rural areas and improve the living standards of farmers.
