AFRIMA 2025 Smashes Record with 10,717 Entries

The All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) has officially broken its entry record for 2025, receiving a massive 10,717 submissions, an impressive 18% jump from last year’s 9,076 entries. Submissions, accepted from 27 May to 8 August 2025, spanned a diverse range of creators including artists, songwriters, producers, video directors, DJs, dancers, choreographers, labels, and even unrecorded talents across Africa and its diaspora .

Regional Submission Breakdown:

West Africa: 5,215 entries (48.68%)

Southern Africa: 2,080 entries (19.42%)

East Africa: 804 entries (7.50%)

Central Africa: 291 entries (2.72%)

North Africa: 267 entries (2.49%)

Diaspora: 75 entries (0.70%)

This record-shattering turnout deeply excited AFRIMA’s international jury. Southern Africa’s representative, Adam Tiran, said:

“The number of entries for AFRIMA 2025 is more than just a statistic; it shows how alive, creative, and unstoppable African music is right now.”

Diaspora juror Hadja Kobele reiterated that entries are judged on musical quality, originality, impact, and cultural relevance, emphasizing that AFRIMA values artistry over popularity .

The 13-member international jury began the adjudication process in Lagos on August 8 and is expected to conclude by August 17 .

Key Dates Ahead:

Nominees Announcement: 24 August

Public Voting Opens: 5 September

Voting Closes: 28 November

Awards Week: 25–30 November, Lagos (final awards ceremony on 30 November)

AFRIMA’s record submission reflects a continent-wide surge in creative engagement and cultural pride, reinforcing its standing as Africa’s premier music awards platform.
