Xiaomi’s Groundbreaking AI Voice Model Redefines Smart Home and Auto Tech
Xiaomi Corporation has unveiled its latest innovation in artificial intelligence; the MiDashengLM-7B, an open-source AI voice model designed to supercharge automotive and smart home applications. The Beijing-based tech giant made the announcement via its official WeChat post.
Built in collaboration with Alibaba’s Qwen2.5-Omni-7B, the new model enhances Xiaomi’s existing voice systems already deployed in electric vehicles (EVs) and smart appliances. The move cements Xiaomi’s push into AI-driven experiences as the company diversifies beyond smartphones.
This development comes amid fierce competition in the global AI arena. Chinese giants like Alibaba and Tencent are racing to release multimodal AI models that handle voice, video, and image processing, in response to global trends set by platforms like OpenAI’s Sora.
Xiaomi’s open-source strategy signals a bold play for wider adoption and technological leadership, as AI becomes critical infrastructure for consumer tech. With EVs and AI at the center of its growth strategy, Xiaomi is rapidly evolving into one of China’s most innovative tech conglomerates.
