TRCN and GMIND AI Launch, AI Platform for 1.5M Nigerian Licensed Educators
TRCN and GMIND AI to Roll Out AI-Powered Lesson Platform for 1.5 Million Licensed Educators
The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) has joined forces with GMIND AI to develop an innovative AI-powered teaching platform that will serve 1.5 million licensed educators across Nigeria. This comprehensive initiative seeks to transform lesson planning and significantly elevate the quality of classroom instruction.
The new platform will offer two tailored categories of teaching resources: dynamic, AI-generated lesson plans with immersive simulations for tech-savvy educators, and prescriptive, ready-to-use lesson content designed for teachers with limited ICT proficiency, ensuring inclusivity across all experience levels.
Registrar Dr. Ronke Soyombo emphasized that the platform is designed to deliver culturally relevant lessons, melding Nigerian history, culture, and local context with global curricula. “Our children can still learn about the Victorians, but they must also learn about the Ife and Benin Kingdoms in the same breath,” she remarked.
The rollout schedule is ambitious:
August 25: TRCN will unveil its revamped website featuring multilingual video guides.
October 6: Official platform launch.
Subsequent weeks: Nationwide training sessions will be conducted across all six geopolitical zones to prepare educators for platform use.According to TRCN and GMIND AI, the platform is not limited to urban centers. Its multilingual, offline-ready, and mobile-first design ensures accessibility for educators in low-bandwidth and rural settings, helping bridge the persistent digital divide.
GMIND AI’s Director of Strategic Partnerships and Innovation, Dr. Deji Ajani, described the platform as more than just software, it is “an AI-powered infrastructure for education” tailored to address the real-world challenges of Nigerian classrooms.
The initiative will also be phased:
Q4 2025: Pilot rollout to 50,000 teachers and training for 2,500 master trainers.
Q1 2026: Expansion to 100,000 teachers.
Q2–Q3 2026: Full deployment to all 1.5 million licensed educators, with 500,000 teachers trained.
Q4 2026: Release of a national Nigeria Impact Report showcasing outcomes, stories, and data-driven recommendations.
Beyond improving lesson delivery, the platform will generate real-time analytics for policymakers, covering teacher engagement, lesson quality, and digital skill development, fueling evidence-based teacher development strategies.
Educational experts see this partnership as a landmark for Nigeria’s education sector and a model for AI-driven learning across Africa. With the potential to impact 45 million students, the initiative positions Nigeria to lead the continent in transformative educational innovation.
