Ekiti State Signs ₦Multimillion-Agro Forest MoU With ENSHET Heights Global
Ekiti Signs 30-Year Agro-Forest MoU With ENSHET Heights Global
The Ekiti State Government has entered into a transformative 30-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ENSHET Heights Global Limited to kickstart an agro-forest investment project aimed at sustainably harnessing the economic potential of the Ogbese Forest Reserve.
Signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Habibat Adubiaro, and mirrored by Mr. Oladapo Olasope, Chairman of ENSHET Heights Global, the agreement outlines a multi-million-naira partnership focused on environmental preservation, job creation, and agro-economic development.
Under the deal, ENSHET gains controlled access to 1,500 hectares within the forest reserve, with 100 hectares specifically earmarked for cultivating high-value economic trees. All farming activities will rigorously exclude prohibited species such as Indian hemp and must follow approved planting guidelines, under the no-cost supervision of Ekiti’s Forestry Commission. The MoU details strict measures for ethical harvesting: mature trees must be processed only after joint valuation by ENSHET and the Forestry Commission, with permits issued accordingly. Any unauthorized actions or failures to remit the state’s share will attract penalties under state forestry laws. The Nation Newspaper
Termed valid from August 1, 2025, through July 31, 2055, the agreement is subject to a five-year performance review and renewal. It also includes confidentiality parameters, good-faith commitments, and arbitration protocols in Ado-Ekiti should disputes arise. The Nation NewspaperTribune Online
Dr. Tunmise Ayodele, MD/CEO of ENSHET Heights Global, revealed the project will intensely focus on developing the cassava value chain, emphasizing products such as cassava flour, starch, sorbitol, and ethanol. The cultivation will span up to 1,400 hectares of degraded areas, alongside introducing a mix of exotic and indigenous tree species to bolster ecological resilience.
