Osun Supermarket Staff Remanded for Allegedly Stealing N8.9m Sales Proceeds to Bet

Yusuf Ibrahim, a 25-year-old inventory officer at Lead Ware House supermarket in Osogbo, Osun State, has been remanded by a magistrate court for allegedly stealing N8.9 million from his employer. Prosecutors say he diverted the sales proceeds to fund betting activities.

Ibrahim was arrested alongside two accomplices, Azeez Olaide (23) and Ojo Tolulope. They were charged on eight counts, including conspiracy, forgery, and stealing. Court documents state the offense occurred on January 16, 2024, when Ibrahim reportedly forged an invoice using his Samsung A29 phone, falsely claiming the funds were needed by the supermarket’s CEO, Musbau Olamilekan. According to the police prosecutor, the charges violate Sections 467, 419, 390(9), and 383(1) of the Osun State Criminal Code. Ibrahim admitted to using all the stolen money in betting. His request for bail was denied, and the court ordered him and his co-accused remanded until September 29, 2025, when the case will be mentioned again. The Nation Newspaper
