Ondo SDP Sacks State Secretary Over Alleged Misconduct, Financial Impropriety

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Ondo State has taken a drastic step by sacking its state secretary over alleged misconduct and financial mismanagement.

According to reports, the decision was reached after top party leaders reviewed petitions and complaints about the secretary’s handling of party funds and internal activities. The move is aimed at restoring confidence, accountability, and discipline within the party as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.

Party officials emphasized that the dismissal was necessary to uphold transparency, stressing that no member would be above the party’s constitution. They assured party supporters that new structures would soon be put in place to strengthen operations and ensure effective grassroots mobilization.

Political watchers in Ondo see this as a bold step by the SDP, which has been working to position itself as a strong opposition force ahead of upcoming elections. However, the decision has also sparked mixed reactions among stakeholders, with some describing it as overdue while others argue it may create fresh divisions.

The SDP leadership, however, insists that unity and integrity must guide its future. They noted that the party will continue to uphold strict financial discipline and internal democracy, while also working to expand its base across Ondo State and beyond.

Observers believe that how the SDP manages this crisis could determine its strength going into the next election season, particularly in Ondo State where political competition remains fierce.
