Strengthening Institutions: Defence Minister Badaru Endorses Tinubu’s Governance Vision
Badaru Reaffirms Tinubu’s Commitment to Strengthening Institutions for Good Governance
At the graduation lecture for the 33rd Course participants of the National Defence College (NDC) in Abuja, Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru Abubakar reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s steadfast commitment to strengthening institutions for good governance, a core pillar of his Renewed Hope Agenda.
Addressing senior military officers and strategic leaders, Badaru emphasized that the current administration is focused on implementing deliberate reforms, leadership appointments, and new frameworks aimed at enhancing accountability, professionalism, and effective coordination across institutions. He stated, “Strong nations are not built on strong individuals, but on resilient and accountable institutions.”
The lecture’s theme, “Strengthening Institutions for Good Governance in Africa,” delivered by former Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo, resonated deeply with the Defence Minister’s remarks. Badaru warned that weak institutions precipitate national decline, while stronger systems foster growth, stability, and prosperity. He urged the graduating participants to leverage their training to build systems that endure beyond any single administration, and called on them to lead with integrity.
This message underscored President Tinubu’s broader push for institutional reform, aligning with his administration’s continuous efforts to enhance governance standards, public trust, and Nigeria’s long-term resilience.
