APC Faces Reality Check: Fagade Warns, “Must Work Harder for 2027 After Ibadan North Loss”
APC Must Work Harder for 2027 After Ibadan North Defeat, Says Fagade
Dr. Abisoye Fagade, the Director-General of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR), has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State to intensify its efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections. He gave this charge following the party’s loss in the Ibadan North Federal Constituency by-election, which he described as a wake-up call for the APC.
Fagade spoke during the commissioning of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term campaign office in Lagelu Local Government Area of Ibadan. The event was attended by notable APC chieftains including Senator Hamzat Ademola Adeseun, Chief Timothy Kunle Sanda, Hon. Remi Adebayo, and several party leaders who pledged their commitment to strengthening the party’s base.
According to Fagade, the outcome of the Ibadan North by-election reflected serious gaps in APC’s grassroots strategy and organizational strength in the state. He stressed that unless the party closed those gaps quickly, it risked facing further setbacks in the 2027 elections. “What happened in Ibadan North shows we still have a lot of work to do. We will come back stronger,” he assured party faithful.
He also noted that the defeat should serve as a lesson for the APC to improve its internal unity and enhance voter engagement across all local governments in Oyo State. By learning from this electoral loss, Fagade said, the party could build a stronger, more connected structure that will perform better in future elections.
The event also marked the unveiling of President Tinubu’s campaign office for his second term bid, signaling APC’s readiness to begin early preparations for 2027. Fagade emphasized that the office would serve as a hub for party mobilization, strategic planning, and coordination of campaign activities across Oyo State.
He further commended President Tinubu’s leadership and urged members of the APC to remain committed, united, and focused on delivering victory in the next elections.
