Katsina Governor to Begin Three-Week Medical Leave Monday
Katsina State Governor Dikko Umar Radda will proceed on a three-week medical leave starting Monday, according to an official statement from Government House.
The leave, which is expected to last until early September, will see Deputy Governor Faruk Jobe assume the role of Acting Governor to ensure the smooth running of government activities in the state.
While the nature of the medical leave was not disclosed, sources within the administration emphasized that it is a routine health check and treatment schedule the governor had planned earlier in the year.
In a press briefing, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, assured citizens that the governor’s absence will not affect the implementation of ongoing projects and policies.
“His Excellency has delegated all necessary executive powers to the Deputy Governor to ensure that governance continues seamlessly during this period. The governor remains committed to the development agenda of Katsina State,” Mohammed stated.
Governor Radda, who has been in office since May 2023, is known for his rural development programs, enhanced security initiatives, and efforts to boost agriculture in the state. He recently oversaw the commissioning of multiple road projects and community empowerment schemes.
Deputy Governor Jobe, in his remarks, pledged to maintain the momentum of government operations and assured residents of continued stability.
Political observers note that this is the governor’s first extended leave since assuming office. While some citizens have expressed concern, many have taken to social media to wish him a speedy recovery, using hashtags like #GetWellRadda and #KatsinaStrong.
Government officials have urged the public to focus on ongoing state progress rather than engage in speculation about the governor’s health.
