Germany Expands Schengen Access: 3 New Visa Centres Opened in Nigeria, Cameroon & Cyprus
Germany Schengen visa centres Nigeria — In a strategic move to improve visa accessibility, the German government has launched new Schengen visa application centres in Nigeria, Cameroon, and Cyprus, according to an official announcement by the German missions.
The new centres aim to reduce waiting times, simplify documentation procedures, and improve regional access for individuals seeking to travel to Germany and other Schengen countries.
In Nigeria, the visa application centre is operated by VFS Global and is now open in key cities including Lagos and Abuja. This development will benefit students, tourists, business travelers, and families seeking reunification.
German Ambassador to Nigeria, Annett Günther, highlighted the initiative as part of efforts to deepen bilateral ties and expand mobility, particularly for young people and entrepreneurs.
“Germany values its strong partnership with Nigeria and West Africa. Easier access to travel enhances people-to-people relations and economic collaboration,” she stated.
In Cameroon and Cyprus, similar centres have been launched with tailored services to meet regional needs. These centres are expected to handle thousands of applications annually and come equipped with biometric systems, real-time tracking, and multilingual support.
Applicants are encouraged to book appointments online, prepare complete documents, and check eligibility before visiting the centres.
This expansion aligns with Germany’s broader goal of enhancing legal migration pathways and easing consular burdens across African and European regions.
