Emmanson: ‘I’m Traumatized, My Body Was Used for Stickers’
Comfort Emmanson has broken her silence on the viral Ibom Air incident, saying she is still deeply traumatized, and accusing airline staff of humiliation that has affected her personal and professional life.
In an emotional Instagram post, Emmanson recounted how a flight attendant forcibly pulled out her wig, cut her gold jewelry, and damaged her phones after a disagreement over turning off her device before takeoff. She said the abuse left her feeling bruised and humiliated, both physically and mentally. Vanguard News
Emmanson was particularly distressed by the way her body was exposed and objectified online. She said: “The trauma is just too much. My body is out there. Some people have even used it to make stickers.” Vanguard News
She also revealed the real-world fallout from the incident. As a real estate professional, she fears that future clients will focus on her appearance instead of her professionalism, and worries about how potential partners or her unborn children might view her because of the images circulating online. Emmanson closed her message thanking those who supported her while she was detained, saying she didn’t expect so much love for someone she considers just a “commoner.” She emphasized that she never refused to turn off her phone, she just struggled due to a faulty device. Vanguard News
