“We’re in Real Trouble” – Pep Guardiola Voices Concern Over Manchester City’s Injury Crisis

Share on Social Media:

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has expressed serious concern over the mounting injury issues within his squad, revealing that only 13 first-team players are currently fit for selection. His comments follow a tough outing for the Premier League champions, who suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday.

The team entered the match with multiple absences among key players, which significantly impacted their lineup. Among those unavailable were veteran defender Kyle Walker, midfield anchor Rodri, forward Oscar Bobb, winger Jeremy Doku, playmaker Kevin De Bruyne, and forward Jack Grealish, all sidelined due to various injuries and fitness concerns.

The situation worsened further just before the game when Manuel Akanji was ruled out, leaving Guardiola with even fewer options. During the match, the team’s misfortune continued as promising young player Savinho had to be taken off on a stretcher in the second half, dealing another blow to City’s already depleted squad.

Looking ahead to their upcoming Premier League clash against Bournemouth, Guardiola admitted that the team’s current condition is challenging. “We are in real difficulty,” he said, highlighting the extent of the squad’s struggles this season.

He added, “With only 13 players available, and many finishing the match with injuries or fitness issues, we’ll have to see how they recover in time for the next game.”
