The United States military has invested over $2.5 million in humanitarian projects across Nigeria in the past ten years, reaffirming its commitment to supporting community development and regional stability.

During the commissioning of a new health facility in Abuja, Colonel William O’Neil, the US Defense Attaché to Nigeria, said the projects were part of a broader civil-military cooperation strategy to improve living conditions across vulnerable communities in the country.

“Our focus has been on building trust through projects that improve education, health, and water access,” he stated.

The initiatives span the construction and rehabilitation of schools, primary healthcare centers, and clean water infrastructure, particularly in underserved rural areas.

This partnership supports Nigeria’s development while also advancing the US military’s diplomatic and peacekeeping efforts in Africa.

Nigerian officials, NGOs, and community leaders praised the impact of these interventions, especially in conflict-affected northern regions.

As both nations deepen their collaboration, more humanitarian-focused projects are expected to roll out in the coming years.

“This is more than aid, it’s a sign of enduring partnership,” said one local health worker.
